Chinese Vegans

I got lost, my phone was dead, and ended up an HOUR late to meet this girl, and she actually waited for me. Not only is Emma kind to animals, she's also really fuckin' patient with dumb humans.

Breakfast In America

Saturday morning my guests and I woke up with hangovers and empty bellies.
Nothing sounded better than good old American pancakes and bottomless cups of coffee, so we shuffled over to Breakfast in America, and braved the line. Starving but still standing, we finally made it in. The waiter pulled out his pad, and we rattled off our list of deepest desires. Adam's order was a real winner: 'Pancakes, coffee, ooh nachos, aaand a chocolate milkshake'.
Needless to say, we had an interesting spread.

¡¡EUREKA!!

RICE & BEANS
I've tried and I've tried, and I've tried and I've tried to find good Mexican grub in Europe, and now it has been found. I have high-fived a good many people over the discovery of this little joint. I can't recommend it highly enough. The owners are easy going, sociable, and just generally charming. The food is hearty, plentiful, flavorful, and reasonably priced. They make their own corn tortillas, an amazing salsa, and an even more impressive Guacamole. My last trip was with six hungry friends. They sat us downstairs in a little cave called the 'Fiesta Room'. For 15 per head, we stuffed ourselves with guacamole, tortilla chips, delicious tacos and beastly burritos. The room buzzed with moans of appreciation. We all left with bulging bellies, and even still took a doggy bag. California tested, Kelsi approved!

Spotted

LE PICK CLOPS
Cool joint in the Marais, with a fresh & tasty menu. Kaly and I went last week for their massive bagel sandwhiches. They essentially throw a pile of ingredients onto your plate and let you assemble your sandwhich yourself. They give you plentiful portions which is rare for a Parisian sandwhich, so I'm a fan.
Plop down on the terrace and people watch, or sit inside for a colorful, mosaic experience.

Stockholm Spot I

GUNTER'S
This was a little road-side sausage stand. Off a varied menu, Gunter suggested a long spicy sausage wrapped in coleslaw, mustard and a warm baguette, and we followed.
3/3 of us gave it an enthusiastic (gloved) thumbs up. You should like the faint sensation of bees stinging your tongue, because it is quite spicy (what do I know, I'm white), but it is one delicious way to keep warm on a -10 degree day.

La Perle

Read this well; I am recommending La Perle by day. By night, it's a whole 'nother place.
By day you go to La Perle to sit in vinyl booths, and eat off a small, but classic menu. You'll eat large, tasty portions at moderate prices, and receive friendly service from fuzzy hipsters. Coffee or booze with a book is another popular option. I think the booth seating is my favorite bit. None of this hard stool nonsense for me. I want to sink my bum into my seat, and my teeth into my food.
At night you pretty much only wanna go here if you're dressed in your hippest duds, ready to judge and be judged. Elevator eyes all around.
You should also want to drink your booze standing on the sidewalk, because you're definitely not going to fit inside. Fitting inside, in my mind, is key here, because the decor makes you feel like you're dining in a Tarantino flick. Don't miss out on that!

So, daytime good, nighttime meh (Unless you're just out to score some serious hipster tush. In that case, raise your fist and shout "Eureka".)
