Camera 1

I was feeling lazy when I was packing for my holiday trip to Belgium, and for whatever reason, I consciously decided that it would be O.K. for me not to pack my camera charger.
I was wrong. I took one photo in Belgium, and then my camera decided it was hibernation time.
It's O.K. though. I picked up a few disposable cameras at Kruidvat, and it felt surprisingly freeing.
Instead of worrying about getting the light right, I could cross my fingers, and leave it all up to fate. Also, people can't complain about how bad they look in the photos. And they can't sneakily delete them when you go to the bathroom.
Win win win.

Sunken Treasure

I am not a big jewelry buff. But I'd seen Antwerpian lady, Sophie Schellekens around, and always thought she had a cool look. So when I heard she was making necklaces, I was excited to take a peek. Finally: bling that I could actually see myself wearing. You know, the kind that's pretty and understated but funky too...without looking like it came from Urban Outfitters.

I finally decided on one, and on Friday it arrived in the mail. I think it's great. It makes me feel like a hip Flinstones character.
I'm so impressed with how much effort Miss Shellekins puts into the little details, from printing the logo on the box's ribbon, to the geometric tissue paper laid inside.

It makes me feel totally lazy to see someone starting up something so artistic and productive. So kudos to you, Sophie! Can't wait to get my hands on some more of your awesome necklaces. :)

All of her jewelry comes wrapped beautifully, so next time you've got a birthday gift to buy, I say save yourself some time, and send 'em some sunken treasure.

At Ease

After Barcelona, I still had a free week to kill. So I did what I do best, and headed to Belgium. It's exam season, so everyone was cramming, but we still managed to fit in a few cafes, trips to the carnival, frozen pizzas and most importantly: Duvels.
Hanging around the library while friends rushed to write papers & read books made me realize how much I miss school. I even missed finals, somehow. Something about the deadlined pressure to cram your brain with knowledge. It's not very poetic. But there's something exciting about it. Do I actually miss stress? Maybe. My life's pretty kick-back lately. I know I'm working towards fluency in French. But I guess I want something bigger and more definitive as well. Something with a real time-line. I'm not quite sure how to go about making that happen. But it's nagging at me.
We'll see.
